Grand Finale

The Time (To Volunteer) Is Now!

2016-11-25 15:05:58

As more and more Collection Centres are closing the lists of volunteers and the foundation gears up to print ID badges for people working with us, you still can apply to join a team at a local Collection Centre. It doesn't take much - you are just 8 steps away from a great adventure!

  1. Read the Rules and Regulations of Voluntary Service and make sure you follow them!
  2. Reach out to one of your local Collection Centres and tell them how you can contribute to their work.
  3. Give the Chief of the Collection Centre the time to respond - they are reponsible for assembling a team they feel confident in. Often Collection Centres work with limited amount of people, as there are certain restrictions on the number of volunteers involved in a fundraiser.
  4. The crew members of the Collection Centre will register you in our database and will provide you with your essentials: ID card, collection box, and a supply of red heart stickers. At this point we remind you about the limits of volunteers, which bind Collection Centres. Before approaching Collection Centre for a spot of work during the Grand Finale remember that they rely on you coming through and showing up on the day to do your bit!
  5. If you are not 16 yet, you will need to be accompanied by an adult on the day of the fundraiser. You will need to supply the Collection Centre with contact details of that person.
  6. Make sure you remember that you can fundraise on the day of the Grand Finale only. This means you can use your Collection Box only on January the 15th 2017, unless you are fundraising at an event held for the benefit of the Grand Finale drive.
  7. We don't do door-to-door fundraising. Make sure not to knock on people's doors, please don't fundraise in shops unless you received an explicit permission from the management to do so. We meet our generous donors on the streets, alleys, and plazas of our towns and cities. You will be amazed how many people come outside on a cold January day to seek out volunteers bearing collection boxes! We also ask you to always put your own safety first - we ask you to always fundraise in a group and look out for each-other!
  8. Once you are done fundrasing, you need to bring your collection box back to your Collection Centre in order to count the funds. Make sure that the people responsible for calculating the funds do it in your presence and the amount you so bravely raised is entered onto an especially designated report sheet. This document, signed by you, serves as a confirmation that you have been informed abou the sum you have raised and you attest that you agree with the Collection Centre's calculations.

It doesn't sound that bad, doesn't it? See you on January the 15th, then!
