World Mental Health Day is meant to showcase the importance of emotional well-being and shine a light on the issues of mental health. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity initiated a comprehensive project of improvement at psychiatric wards for children and young adults.
Our charity run
The weather might be frightful, but on the day of the Grand Finale, on Sunday, January the 13th many of you will be taking part in different editions of the charitable run. The main event - the Get Even with Diabetes run - will take place in Warsaw.
The 5000 participants will take part in the 5K run across the capital city, but there are local editions of the race held in different towns and cities across Poland and in three locations abroad: in Watford, UK, in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland, and in Sandnes, Norway. It is worth noting that the Irish edition of the run will be a 24-hour relay run across the capital.
Our aim is to raise money for the purchase of personal insulin pumps, which are then rented out to pregnant women with diabetes. On top of that, the run and its different, local editions are a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle, raise awareness, and show our support to people with diabetes.
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity bought equipment for four laboratories testing coronavirus samples. Lab equipment worth almost PLN 10.5 million (over EUR 2 300 000) will be donated to laboratories in Warsaw, Łódź, and Poznań. This latest commitment takes the purchases in aid of COVID-19 Relief to PLN 50 million.
The upper house of the Polish parliament will host a debate on children's mental health services on October 21st. Our charity will join forces with the Senate to find the solution to the problems which plight children's psychiatric care in Poland
