Volunteer | Grand Finale 2021

Become a part of the team!

Volunteers are the driving force of our initiative. A group of 120 000 people of all ages, creeds, and world-views contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm to create the most vibrant and exciting fundraiser in the country! Everyone is welcome to volunteer, and we are happy to see so many volunteers returning to "play" with us. What is more, our volunteers often return with their family members and friends who also join our initiative. Our oldest volunteer was well over ninety years old, while the youngest was just a few months old.

Everyone can contribute as much time and effort as they see fit - from joining the core Crew at the Collection Centre and overseeing the entire organisation of the local events to becoming a part of the team tasked with raising funds on the day of the Grand Finale.

Financial Records & Accounts

We are always honest, open, and very transparent about our fundraising practices. It all begins with you - volunteers! Each one of you represents our charity and is an ambassador of our initiative, so we rely on you to be honest, open, and trustworthy.

There are some basic rules you should bear in mind when it comes to the financial accounts of your work on the day of the Grand Finale.

  • any time your Collection Box become full or damaged due to the weather, you can bring it back to the Collection Centre HQ;
  • money should be counted in your presence. You will have to sign the Collection Ledger, confirming the result of your fundraiser;
  • you will also receive an acknowledgement form with the sum you raised. We won't be able to provide you with any additional documents.

On the Day of the Grand Finale

Volunteer's Grand Finale checklist should include:

  • Collection Box
  • ID card
  • a batch of red heart stickers
  • positive attitude
  • good knowledge of Volunteer's Code of Conduct

Your day begins early in the morning, and you will be fundraising in public spaces, such as streets, marketplaces, or in various venues, where the fundraising events are taking place. Bear in mind that we do not do door-to-door fundraisers and we ask our volunteers to be polite, courteous, and energetic. According to our Volunteer Code of Practice, you must not force anyone to donate. Taking part in our fundraiser is voluntary and should bring everyone joy and happiness.

How to become a volunteer?

First of all, please remember that applying to volunteer means that you are committed to raising funds on a day which might as well be one of the coldest days in the year! It is also a fun way to make new friends, meet like-minded people and do something useful, so it is well worth spending a few hours of fundraising.

Your local Collection Centre is your main point of contact. The team working there will be responsible for all formalities, requirements and they will organise your tasks before and during the Grand Finale fundraiser. Collection Centre will provide you with all of the fundraising essentials: your Collection Box, ID, and heart stickers.

  1. Get in touch with your local Collection Centre to find out about your volunteering options. Chief of the Collection Centre is responsible for all decisions regarding recruiting volunteers. They decide who they'd like to join their team. Each Collection Centre can register a limited number of volunteers, so your dropping out will be problematic for the entire team.
  2. Collection Centres can accept volunteer applications in person or online. Online registration means that you'd be required to fill in an online questionnaire and then confirm the data you entered by visiting the Collection Centre HQ in person. If the Collection Centre stays with the traditional form of in-person recruitment, make sure to come by to the official meeting with all relevant documents and your photo. Some Collection Centres opt to use TOKEN codes to run the application process.

Wellness & Safety

Safety and wellness of our volunteers are one of our primary concerns.

  • First of all, come prepared for the season - it gets freezing in Poland - make sure to keep warm.
  • Second of all, pace yourself - take rest when you need to, grab something warm to eat and drink. You can empty your Collection Box anytime it gets too full.
  • Third of all, our volunteers never do door-to-door fundraising. Please keep to well-lit streets and marketplaces. Never risk your safety to reach the highest fundraising goal.
  • Fourth of all, you should never fundraise by yourself. You can ask your friends to join you for the day and fundraise in a group. If you are under 16 years of age, you will fundraise when supervised by a guardian.
