Retinopathy of prematurity is serious condition of retina caused by premature birth, which, when untreated, can lead to loss of eyesight. 11,4% of cases of loss of eyesight in children in Poland are caused by retinopathy of prematurity. To put matters simply, if a child is born too early, its retina is not developed completely and the risk of losing eyesight caused by retinopathy is consequently higher. This comprehensive illustrated handbook lists modern ways of diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
