Get Even with Diabetes

Nutrition Information

Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes is a chronic illness caused by insulin production disorder. Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases, which are characterised by high sugar levels. If left untreated diabetes can cause serious complications, sometimes even leading to coma or death.

According to WHO there were 30 million people suffering with diabetes in 1885, while in 1998 the number amounted to 140 million. Current estimations suggest that there is about 175 million people suffering with diabetes in the world.

It is estimated that there are 3 million people with diabetes in Poland and 1/3 of them might not even know about their disease. Some patients seek consultation when the disease is in advanced stage and 25% of the patients are diagnosed with complications caused by diabetes.

Having reliable information about the sugar content is extremely important to successful management of this long-term disease, and that's why we have teamed up with the leading manufacturers of food and asked them to provide the information relevant for the people suffering with diabetes on the packaging. Some companies heard our call to action and you can find the list of companies and products here
