Supporting disabled

2018-05-16 15:40:12

Since 2005 the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation has been carrying out a programme aiming to help individual children which require constant, home rehabilitation. Unable to pay for surgeries and treatment, the charity decided to use the funds to buy rehabilitation equipment for children. Since the launch of the programme, the charity has provided equipment (ranging from exercise bikes, stander frames, vests for chest wall oscillation to specialist bathing mats) to 4 929 children. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation donated equipment for 19 940 193,83 PLN.

In light of recent events - the so far unsuccessful protest of parents of disabled children in the Polish parliament - the Board of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation has made a decision to expand its programme of help offered to disabled people. According to the new provisions, in the year 2018 alone, the GOCC will purchase rehabilitation equipment for 6 000 000 PLN. The equipment will also be provided to young adults as well as children. The charity used to finance rehabilitation equipment for children under 18 years of age. New decisions extend the age of recipients to 26 years.
