The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity bought equipment for four laboratories testing coronavirus samples. Lab equipment worth almost PLN 10.5 million (over EUR 2 300 000) will be donated to laboratories in Warsaw, Łódź, and Poznań. This latest commitment takes the purchases in aid of COVID-19 Relief to PLN 50 million (over EUR 11 000 000).
Our charity will equip laboratories with high-capacity automated preparation stations which will be used to prepare samples for further COVID-19 testing. We will also supply the four labs with 116 kits for the isolation of viral DNA and RNA, 4167 multiwell plates, 208 skirted PCR plates and 40 000 COVID-19 test kits. Lab in Łódź will receive clean bench.
Having analysed the requests from hospitals, we sought advice from experts to help us decide which equipment to purchase for labs running COVID-19 testing. Our donations will considerably speed up the testing process and the effectiveness of the entire workflow. We also believe that the equipment we bought will improve the safety of the lab staff. Laboratory equipment is another big purchase made with the funds we raised through our COVID-19 Relief Fund, says Krzysztof Dobies, press officer for the GOCC
Our charity bought equipment for almost PLN 50 000 000. Apart from PPE for frontline medical staff (coveralls, masks, disinfection liquid), the charity purchased 200 ICU beds, 157 cardiac monitors, 71 medical ventilators. We also received equipment from medical suppliers, such as 30 infusion pumps, chest compression machine, two pulse oximeters, 25 USG machines, 3 ECG machines. All devices and all future purchases will be donated to hospitals and medical facilities tasked with fighting COVID-19.
