Each award and prize is important for us because we see it as a recognition of all the hard work we do. We also never see it as an accolade for the Foundation, but a praise of the involvement of hundreds of thousands of volunteers and activists involved in our initiative. Hearing that the European Parliament members noticed our efforts to improve the level of medical care in Polish paediatric hospitals made is feel especially proud.

The award has been established by the European Parliament in 2008 in order to acknowledge the efforts put into encouraging international cooperation in the European Union and creating the environment for fruitful cooperation between member states of the European Union. The prize is also meant to acknowledge unique social initiatives, which promote and embody key European values and ideals. Each member of the European Parliament can nominate an individual or an organization they believe make a significant change in their area of activity. The winners of the prize, coming from all member states of the Union.
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation has been nominated by Krzysztof Hetman, Agnieszka Sokołowska-Rajewicz, Janusz Lewandowski, and Tadeusz Zwiefka. An international committee, comprised of politicians representing different political options.

The Foundation has been recognized by the European Parliament for its commitment to improving the level of medical care available in Polish hospitals and wards. The Foundation has been awarded alongside Alicja Szatkowska and the Polish Jewish Forum.
