Readers of Newsweek weekly celebrated the 20th anniversary of the publication by choosing leaders of social change and people they see as key actors in creating the society in Poland as we know it now.

 

Jurek Owsiak, chairman of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation, is one of the best known and respected social activists, closely associated with promoting community engagement and voluntary service in the country. Jurek Owsiak, a long-term volunteer, took third place when it comes to a list of the twenty most meaningful personalities in Poland. The list included politicians, sportspeople, social activists, writers, and artists. However, when it comes to a list of the most influential citizens, Jurek Owsiak leads the ranking. Readers and journalists highlighted his commitment to social issues, his vocal support of human rights, his engagement in making social engagement a core element of life in Poland.

An orange crowd of runners hit the streets of Warsaw

For the eighteenth time, Jurek Owsiak, this time from the final stage on the PGE Narodowy meadows in Warsaw, opened the joyful run under the same slogan "Get Even with Diabetes". Crowds of running enthusiasts, after a five-kilometre route through the streets of Warsaw, will reach the finish line located in the same place.
