The Open Tender, which is a shopping process which allows experts and representatives of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation to analyse the parameters of the equipment presented by the manufacturers of medical equipment and to compare the offers as well as negotiate the prices, warranty period. The Open Tender was hosted by the Memorial Children's Hospital, which is one of the leading paediatric hospitals in the country, and which will be the beneficiary of this scanner. This time, unlike

The digital PET-CT scanner we purchased will be the first equipment of the type used in paediatric diagnosis in Poland. The scanner combines two kinds of medical imaging, allowing for speedy and precise diagnosis of small patients. When it comes to treating children's cancer, precision is key to a successful treatment. Doctors, who receive detailed information about the child's condition, can tailor the treatment to suit the individual needs of each child to ensure a speedy recovery.

Usually, we are bound by the confidentiality agreements when it comes to revealing the prices of equipment we buy, but this time, we can reveal that the PET-CT scanner was bought for PLN 15 890 00.

We bought equipment from Siemens, and the machine will be installed as soon as the hospital declared that it is ready - the device is so heavy, it requires ceilings of the rooms located underneath the examination suite to be reinforced!

We want to express our gratitude for the PET-CET Scanner. The device combines two types of tomography - positron emission (PET) and computer tomography (CT). Our specialist will receive information about the exact location of the disease, and they are then able to tailor their response accordingly. They will be able to discover the source of the disease and to check if the treatment is making progress. It will be the first scanner of this type entirely available at a paediatric clinic in the country.

- Marek Migdał, Director of the Memorial Children's Hospital

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation has donated to the Memorial Children's Hospital 1 200 pieces of equipment worth over PLN 53 000 000.
