PLN 14 million for children's ophthalmology
On 5 December, we organized the 68th Open Tender dedicated to the aim of the 30th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, i.e. paediatric ophthalmology.
The 32nd Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC) was dedicated to acquiring equipment for diagnosing, monitoring, and rehabilitating patients in pulmonology wards – catering to both children and adults. Just under five months after the campaign ended, we are ready to make our first purchases of equipment!
The Open Tender aims to supply equipment to 123 adult respiratory units and 22 paediatric respiratory units. The planned purchases include:
In total, we will be purchasing 364 devices for 120 hospitals across the country! The second round of purchases to meet the goals of the 32nd Grand Finale will take place this autumn.
Our equipment purchasing process, known as the Open Tender, involves hours of negotiations, detailed analysis of bids, and a focus on quality over cost. The GOCC Foundation is supported by a Committee of Experts – specialists in the relevant medical fields who work in institutions nationwide. This reliance on practical experience ensures that we select the highest quality equipment.
The GOCC has developed unique purchasing procedures that differ significantly from the standards used by many public entities. Bids from medical companies are publicly opened and thoroughly scrutinised. Invited experts meticulously examine the equipment’s features and, if possible, test them.
The hallmark of the GOCC Open Tender is the exceptionally well-negotiated purchase conditions. Prices are often significantly lower than the average market rates – sometimes by several dozen per cent! Payments are made only after the equipment is installed in the wards. Each piece of equipment comes with an extended warranty, a possible supply of consumables, and guaranteed free software updates for life. Additionally, hospitals receive a training package delivered by experienced specialists. Thus, the Orchestra ensures not only the provision of equipment but also the optimal use of it for the benefit of patients.

The 32nd Grand Finale concert will start playing in less than 60 days! Jurek Owsiak revealed the latest additions to the lineup for the event taking place on January 28, 2024 at PGE Narodowy meadows!
The merry tunes of the Great Orchestra reach the world's ends! Our melody of solidarity and friendship will once again play across the globe thanks to our amazing volunteers. What are the colours of the wind coming from both the poles?
