Even though the 50th Open Tender was supposed to take 3 days of negotiations the team responsible for medical purchases: medical board of the Foundation and a group of medical and technical experts finalized the process a day earlier. All in all, the Foundation decided to purchase 7976 pieces of equipment for paediatric and neonatal units at public hospitals in Poland. As well as buying medical equipment, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation purchased over 4 000 pieces of hospital furniture for parents who accompany their children during their stay at the hospital.
The charity has pledged to improve the quality of the parents' stay in the hospital. Sleeping conditions were often appaling and the Foundation embarked on a mission to change that, launching a Treatment with Love awareness campaign. Pull-down beds, recliners, and nursing chairs will greatly improve the quality of rest for the parents, who are, in turn, essential to their child's well-being and recovery.
The charity aimed to buy equipment for almost 32 000 000 PLN. However, thanks to strict negotiation schedule the charity saved 11 000 000 PLN, buying equipment for 21.510.173,31 PLN. Due to contractual obligations, we are unable to reveal the price of individual items.
Initially, the Foundation was looking to purchase:
91 cardiotocographs
139 bilirubinometers
246 infant phototherapy lamps on casters
69 infant phototherapy units
207 neonatal resuscitation units
23 transport incubators with nCPAP
187 nursing chairs
2 971 pull-down beds for parents
346 recliners for parents
Eventually, having considered the offers from medical suppliers, warranty periods and pricing we have purchased:
118 cardiotocographs
139 bilirubinometers
246 infant phototherapy lamps on casters
69 infant phototherapy units
23 transport incubators with nCPAP
2 971 pull-down beds for parents
346 recliners for parents
Funds raised at the 25th and 26th Grand Finale fundraisers will be used to finance purchases.
