The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC) Foundation continues its battle against sepsis! Thanks to the funds raised during the 31st Grand Finale, we have already equipped 208 facilities across Poland with 510 pieces of specialist equipment. Now, we are making additional purchases to further enhance the diagnostic capabilities of microbiological laboratories!
The aim of the 31st Grand Finale was to equip microbiology laboratories to fight sepsis. Through the 66th and 67th Open Tenders and other acquisitions, the Foundation purchased a total of 510 pieces of equipment worth PLN 213,187,104.60. This equipment has been distributed to 208 facilities in 151 cities throughout Poland.
Given the high demand for specialist equipment in microbiology units, the GOCC Foundation, guided by recommendations from medical experts, has decided to make additional purchases to meet these growing needs.
We are allocating PLN 15,277,707.20 for these additional purchases. The funds will be used to buy:
This new equipment will be distributed to 37 facilities in the following locations: Białystok, Bochnia, Brzozów, Bydgoszcz, Chełm, Ciechanów, Dębica, Drezdenko, Gorlice, Górno, Iława, Inowrocław, Janów Lubelski, Kraków, Krosno, Lublin, Łęczna, Łódź, Mikołów, Myślenice, Nowy Tomyśl, Ostrołęka, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Piekary Śląskie, Piotrków Trybunalski, Proszowice, Puławy, Radom, Rzeszów, Sanok, Wadowice, Wałcz, Wejherowo, Włocławek, Wrocław, and Zgierz.
These purchases represent another significant step in the fight against sepsis, a condition that is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. With the addition of modern equipment, microbiology laboratories will enable doctors to diagnose and treat sepsis more quickly and accurately.
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the body's abnormal response to infection, which can originate from various sources. It can start with seemingly minor symptoms, making it difficult to diagnose early. Sepsis is the fourth leading cause of death globally. It is a complex condition that can affect anyone, regardless of age, with over half of all cases occurring in people under the age of 20.
The new equipment purchased through these additional funds will be serving patients across Poland, providing vital tools for the early diagnosis and treatment of sepsis. The GOCC Foundation remains committed to enhancing healthcare facilities and improving patient outcomes through such initiatives.
Thank you for your continuous support and dedication. Together, we are making a significant impact on Polish healthcare and saving lives.
