See the light - this is the very telling motto of our winter fundraising initiative. We will raise money to buy equipment for children's ophthalmology. Next year we will purchase medical devices to save children's eyesight! The annual fundraiser, which is often called Poland's most prominent public fundraiser, will take place on January 30th, 2022, to mark the 30th anniversary of our initiative.
Next year, together with a group of 120 000 volunteers internationally, we will raise money to aid children's eye diseases and disorders. The upcoming fundraiser aims to buy medical devices for ophthalmology -a branch of medicine treating diseases and conditions of the eye. It is worth noting that the 30th Grand Finale fundraiser will mark the first time we try to tackle the purchase of equipment that will be used to save children's eyesight. However, we have extensive experience when it comes to treating and preventing retinopathy of prematurity, having established a national programme that helped to run tests of the sight of nearly 225 thousand preemies and save the eyesight of 10 600 children. In addition, we equipped 21specialized surgery centres with laser surgery devices, which allow doctors to perform operations saving the sight of tiny newborn babies, ensuring that they can learn, develop, and discover the world in full colour.
This time we will focus our attention on children's ophthalmology in a broader sense - we want to support the work done by specialized 25 ophthalmology centres located in 17 cities across the country and clinics, where children are referred to for initial testing and diagnosis. We aim to - year again, with the help of our generous donors - overhaul the way clinics and hospitals are equipped. What is more, we plan to create and prepare a highly specialized training centre for doctors and eye surgeons.
96 days before the 32nd Grand Finale, during the 67th Open Tender, we have revealed the aim of the upcoming winter fundraiser. This time, the GOCC Foundation will focus on the post-pandemic lung diseases - the raised funds will be used to purchase equipment for children's and adults' respiratory units.
The registration of Collection Centres, i.e. hubs of volunteers organizing the Grand Finale events for their local community, is now over. Collection Centres will be actively participating in the 32nd Grand Finale fundraiser across Poland and in 101 locations around the world!
