PLN 14 million for children's ophthalmology
On 5 December, we organized the 68th Open Tender dedicated to the aim of the 30th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, i.e. paediatric ophthalmology.
The merry tunes of the Great Orchestra reach the world's ends! Our melody of solidarity and friendship will once again play across the globe thanks to our amazing volunteers. What are the colours of the wind coming from both the poles?
Over 14,000 kilometres away from Warsaw, at the Henryk Arctowski Polish Antarctic Station managed by the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of Polish Academy of Sciences the temperature is rising day after day, as the 32nd Grand Finale date is getting closer. The Collection Centre at the "Arctowski" Station prove that our volunteers have a fire in their hearts that heats up the atmosphere no matter the circumstances!
Despite the harsh conditions and a landscape of glaciers on the Southern Hemisphere in the Southern Shetland archipelago, on King George Island, off the coast of Admiralty Bay, where Polish and international scientists and employees stay at the year-round research facility, the team is determined to join our initiative, send good wishes and a light to the sky on the day of the Grand Finale, on 28 January 2024! They are already preparing to launch their first chartable auctions too!
It turns out that the heart-melting news come also from the Northern Hemisphere as the Polish Polar Station Hornsund joins the Great Orchestra again! The Stanisław Siedlecki Polish Polar Station in Hornsund is situated in Isbjornhamna Bay of the Hornsund Fjord, in the southern part of Spitsbergen in the Svalbard Archipelago. It is the northernmost Polish research facility. Managed by the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Polar Station will once again bring their unwavering enthusiasm and willingness to contribute positively to our efforts! Standing in solidarity with the GOCC Foundation, the team will play in the 32nd Grand Finale despite the truly challenging weather conditions!
Our guess is that, just like last year, the temperature at the North Pole will increase by at least a few degrees Celsius on the day of the 32nd Grand Finale fundraiser. The Polish Polar Station Hornsund has already begun its first charitable auctions. Make sure to follow their social media channels. Their captivating photographs of Svalbard's wildlife are the best way to break the ice! See for yourself!
This time, 1,685 Collection Centres (32 more than last year) will be engaged in organising the 32nd Grand Finale. 100 of them are registered abroad. The Grand Finale fundraiser will be held in Great Britain, the United States, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Indonesia, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, France, Japan, Spain, Croatia, Australia, Thailand, Luxemburg, Canada, Czechia, Singapore, Egypt, the UAE, and Cyprus.
Dear Volunteers! Thank you for taking the message of our Orchestra in your hearts to the most distant corners of the globe! We are beyond grateful for your unbelievable dedication, energy, and passion, and always remain proud to call you our Ambassadors abroad! We will play till the end of time and a day longer!
The 32nd Grand Finale will be organized on 28 January 2024. The main objective of this year's fundraiser is “Post-pandemic lungs.” This means that our goal is to purchase medical equipment for the diagnosis, monitoring, and rehabilitation of pulmonary diseases in both children and adults. The motto for this year's event is: We're all in tune!
The Grand Finale concert stage and the GOCC's TV studio in Warsaw will be located at the PGE Narodowy meadows.
