PLN 14 million for children's ophthalmology
On 5 December, we organized the 68th Open Tender dedicated to the aim of the 30th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, i.e. paediatric ophthalmology.
Although one of the most spectacular moments of each Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity - the run of several thousand participants through the streets of Warsaw – is still few hours away, the 16th "Get Even with Diabetes" run is already underway, thanks to the virtual form, which was launched on Monday, 24th January.
For over a dozen years, the Orchestra has been convincing people that a healthy body makes a healthy spirit and on the occasion of the Finale it invites people to take part in a sporting event aimed at supporting pregnant women or those planning a pregnancy with diabetes. Those willing to take part in the action can choose between the main run through the streets of Warsaw, which will start at noon on 29 January, sports activities carried out by the local WOSP HQs or the so-called virtual run, where the participant indicates the place and date for completing the 5-kilometre distance. Participants can run the virtual run from Monday (24 January) to Sunday (30 January) inclusive.
12,244 people have already registered - for both forms of the race combined - including residents of the United States, Croatia, Germany and the UK! And this is not the end, because while some people are already running, others can still sign up. Registration for the virtual run can still be made on the SlotMarket.pl platform of the Sport Evolution company, which is once again organising the event jointly with the GOCC, while registration for the Warsaw run can be made in the competition office at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.
The virtual run has already covered 33,478 kilometres!
All participants, as part of the participation package (minimum fee of PLN 50 per participant), receive a commemorative orange T-shirt, a buff, a starting number and a medal. The packages were delivered to the address indicated by the runner (in the case of applications for the virtual run) and could be collected in the Runner's Store in the Warsaw district of Powiśle (in the case of the street run in Warsaw), and now - in the competition office.
The 16th WOŚP Run " Get Even with Diabetes" involves activities all over the globe. Runners in the characteristic orange T-shirts can be found in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Spain, the Netherlands, India, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Portugal, South Africa, Romania, Singapore, Switzerland, the United States, Great Britain and Italy.
A day before the 30th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, punctually at noon, a run through the streets of Warsaw will start. All participants can take part in a open warm-up, which will be held in a concert tent near the Palace of Culture and Science.
The main sponsor of the run is Dawtona - the manufacturer of a wide range of fruit and vegetable products - which supports the "Get Even with Diabetes" campaign.
The ambassador of the run for the second time in a row is Ewa Chodakowska, who encourages her followers to participate in the event.
Even more sporting activities
The Pho3nix Foundation is also involved in the 30th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity by preparing a warm-up for the runners.
The Foundation also invites primary schools to participate in a nationwide, inter-school competition for the highest number of steps in the Pho3nix Kids mobile application. Each registered active student means 5 PLN from the Pho3nix Foundation for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, and the goal is to collectively raise 1 million PLN. The competition started on 24 January and will end a week after the 30th WOSP Finale.

Hundreds of participants wearing our original orange T-shirts? It's a signature feature of our "Get Even with Diabetes" Run! We will hold the 18th stationary edition of the run in the streets of Warsaw on 28 January. However, the virtual run starts today! You can still register online and add your time to the pool!
For the eighteenth time, Jurek Owsiak, this time from the final stage on the PGE Narodowy meadows in Warsaw, opened the joyful run under the same slogan "Get Even with Diabetes". Crowds of running enthusiasts, after a five-kilometre route through the streets of Warsaw, will reach the finish line located in the same place.
