With the Great Orchestra across continents!

2024-06-04 13:20:00

During the 32nd Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC), an astounding 1,685 Collection Centres joined in, including 100 in 23 countries worldwide! Thanks to the immense dedication of our volunteers, the Orchestra's spirit resonated across 5 continents and even reached both poles! On 28th January, we witnessed an extraordinary global celebration.

The GOCC in the American Dream

In North America, 13 Collection Centres played together in the United States and Canada. The passion and energy of our local volunteers shone brightly, even thousands of miles away from Warsaw.

In Austin, the team outdid themselves with a remarkable list of attractions and vibrant photos capturing the joy. Remarkably, they even seemed to have orchestrated perfect weather! Led by the long-time friend and GOCC volunteer Ania Zieleniewska, the Austin team set a high standard for celebration. Just look at those stunning pictures!

Our loyal supporters in New York, Washington, and Florida also hosted delightful events. In Ottawa, the Polish Embassy joined the festivities, where numerous charity auctions, creative workshops, and live music performances took centre stage. The photos from these events paint a vivid picture of a day filled with fun and colour.

The Orchestra's Heart Beats Strong in Europe

On 28th January, a wave of red hearts spread from Warsaw across nearly all European capitals. Of the 100 international teams, 32 were based in the UK alone.

European Collection Centres also celebrated in grand style in Spain, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium, France, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Croatia, Germany, Norway, Ireland, and Cyprus!

Reports from these events took us on a virtual tour of the continent. Following the activities of the European Collection Centres, one could feel the unity and eagerness to help. Runs, children’s activities, picnics, charity auctions, and tastings of Polish cuisine brought together people from diverse cultures and generations. These events highlighted the importance of community in safeguarding health and life.

Another Worldwide Grand Finale Behind Us!

Thanks to our incredible International Collection Centres, the GOCC Grand Finale was a continuous celebration, day and night! As Warsaw kicked off with a packed programme, the eastern hemisphere was lighting up the night sky with “Light to the Sky” events. As Europe revelled in the last moments of its festivities, our overseas teams were just beginning theirs! Even research stations at both poles joined in the joyful celebration. The commitment of 1,685 Collection Centres enabled us to orchestrate another extraordinary worldwide Grand Finale.

Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers!

We owe this incredible achievement to our dedicated volunteers. Together, we have once again set a new record of united hearts. Your invaluable support will soon translate into tangible benefits for Polish healthcare. The 32nd Grand Finale of the GOCC was dedicated to purchasing equipment for diagnosing, monitoring, and rehabilitating lung diseases in children’s and adults’ pulmonology wards. There are 64 such units across Poland. We plan to start buying equipment for post-pandemic lung care in June!

Thank you for being with us and making a difference. See you next time!
