The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is the biggest non-governmental buyer of medical equipment in Poland. However, in contrast with the state-held purchases, the charity holds an Open Tender, which allows a panel of experts to examine each piece of equipment on offer and negotiate the price and service. This week we have held the 51st edition of an Open Tender, and this time our focus was on buying the best and most advanced devices for Polish neonatal units. We have planned to buy equipment worth 65 000 000 PLN ( over 15 100 000 EUR), but ultimately, the worth of all contracts signed over the three-day period amounted to 45.542.821,39 PLN! This means that we have saved 30%!
In a few months, Polish hospitals will receive the best equipment from top medical companies, which sell the equipment at very reasonable, sometimes offering stunning discounts. We are able to negotiate longer warranty periods and mandatory training for medical staff. We received an amazing boost of energy to tackle the challenges of getting ready for next year's Grand Finale fundraiser - commented Jurek Owsiak, chairman of the board of the Foundation.
This time the Foundation has purchased:
- closed incubators - 284
- cardiac monitors - 299 (VIRIDIAN)
- infusion pumps - 209 (MEDICARD)
- the portable infant warmers - 421 (EM-MED)
- pulse oximeters - 438 (PROMED)
- syringe pumps - 508 (MEDICARD)
- electronic scales - 343 (DUTCHMED)
- portable RTGs - 20 (AGFA)
- decontamination (disinfection) devices - 17 (GREENPOL)
- hot air infant warmers - 80 (3M)
- heating gel mattresses for children - 44 (EM-MED)
- heating mattresses for neonates - 47 (EM-MED)
Our expert committee analysed equipment presented by 28 tenderers, in order to negotiate the purchase of the best possible equipment. This equipment is purchased with the funds raised at the 26th Grand Finale, which took place in January last year.
