2020-01-13 14:20:00
You create this day - it is your ingenuity, commitment, smiles, and participation make the day of the Grand Finale special and unique experience. It is one of the few days when hundreds of thousands of people decide to be kind to each other and to share much more than money.
You beautiful people make this day beautiful with your smiles, kindness, and selflessness.
1. Australian Flag Rolled Out in Warsaw
We wanted to show our solidarity with the people suffering in Australia and demonstrate that we are not indifferent to the plight of those affected by the raging Australian bushfires. A marine academy choir sang Australian hymn while a gigantic flag of Australia was rolled out above the audience's heads.
2. Sound of Silence performed in Gdańsk
We wanted to make a tribute to our friend, Mayor of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz, who was fatally stabbed while on stage at the charity concert in Gdańsk. We came together to sing "Sound of Silence" with the crowds gathered in Gdańsk.
3. Your generous donations to the charitable auctions
You always surprise us with your generosity. Whether big or small, valuable or handmade, the lots which you donate in aid our online auctions are precious because they come from your hearts. One of the especially touching lots come from prisoners, who donate handmade, intricate items.
4. Your creativity
You sing songs, design outfits, bake fancy cakes and make even the craziest project and flight of fancy a reality in aid of our initiative - thank you for each and every artistic project you participated in! "The Witcher" seemed to inspire more than a few creative re-renditions of Jaskier's song...
5. Your stories
You write about your experiences and share your stories - both those relating to the Grand Finale fundraiser and how the equipment we pitched all in to buy affected your life or life and health of your nearest and dearest. Your stories and your positive energy gives us the power to keep going!
As you already know, we play with everyone and for everyone. What is more, in Warsaw we play in a totally new location! For the first time ever the heart of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will be beating at the PGE Narodowy meadows.
The Great Orchestra played its 32nd Grand Finale! It was an exceptional day. And the declared amount of funds raised during this year's collection exceeded our expectations!
Five days before the 32nd Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, we visited the 'Pomnik - Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka' (Children's Memorial Health Institute) to ceremoniously inaugurate the first Ophthalmic Simulation Laboratory in Europe dedicated exclusively to the field of peadiatric ophthalmology.
